Oracle Sues Google for Use of Java

According to a recent Associated Press report, Oracle has filed a patent and copyright-infringement lawsuit against Google Inc. In a statement released by the company, Oracle claims that the Android system for mobile phones infringes on the patented Java technology. Java is a platform that is used for building applications for computers, websites, smartphones and other mobile devices.

Oracle charges that Google has "actively and knowingly" violated seven Java patents, as well as copyrighted material related to the Java platform, according to the lawsuit.
