The dramatic news was announced on the eve of the UK Oracle User Group Conference 2011 in Birmingham and was warmly welcomed by everyone involved with Oracle in the UK as a very positive step forward for both organisations.
UKOUG has historically been a very strong advocate for the users of Oracle technology in the UK and provides specialist events all year round, where its members, providers and Oracle are able to meet and discuss the latest developments and technical solutions.
UKOCN has grown rapidly over the last two years and its on-line presence has enabled Oracle providers to promote their products, services, events and special offers to an ever increasing number of members drawn from the Oracle business community.
Paul Kavanagh, UKOCN Managing Director explains, “In the past some may have seen the two groups as competitive and unable to partner with one another but when you look hard and analyse how they operate, they are actually quite complementary and together will provide a unique service to all those working with or using Oracle technology in the UK. During the course of our discussions over the last few months it became apparent that there is much to be gained by both parties working together than continuing to work in isolation. I very much believe this is a natural progression for both organisations and an exciting development that will bring many benefits to everyone connected with Oracle in the UK.”

UKOUG focus being face to face events, networking and lobby activities, whilst we both operate in the Oracle space we are not competing organisations. The Oracle community can only benefit by a partnership between the two organisations which will inevitably lead to a louder, more vibrant, better informed community.”
The relationship will naturally take time to evolve but immediately UKOCN will actively promote UKOUG events to its membership and partners. In return, UKOUG will promote UKOCN’s on-line services and the benefits to its membership and Oracle providers.
