Eastern European countries have benefited from a legacy of high levels of technical, scientific and engineering skills built up in the years prior to the 1989 political changes. But, as these countries now shape their own educational and technology programs, how can they ensure they maintain their outstanding skills pool to compete in the 21st century?

In this webcast, Oracle SVP Alfonso Di Ianni talks about how Oracle is working with governments and educational institutions throughout EE-CIS to transfer modern technology and business skills to the employees and business entrepreneurs of tomorrow. He emphasizes however that the task of maintaining an up to date skills pool cannot be sustained by the private sector alone, and considers how governments can invest more in education and skills to help arrest the current 'brain drain' and ensure that the region's economies remain innovative and competitive.
