More Organizations Worldwide Rely on Oracle® Database 11g
Customers Turn to Oracle Database 11g to Improve Application Availability, Performance and Scalability
Redwood Shores, CA - March 31, 2009
News Facts
Organizations across the globe and within varied industries continue to adopt Oracle® Database 11g as the foundation for their business applications, Oracle announced today.
Luminex Corporation, Metcash, Where 2 Get It, Inc. and Yuntaa have upgraded to Oracle Database 11g to help meet business application performance, scalability, security and availability needs.
Powering Key Business Applications
Austin, Texas-based Luminex Corporation develops, manufactures and markets proprietary biological testing technologies with applications throughout the diagnostic and life sciences industries. Luminex upgraded to Oracle Database 11g to power its ERP system -- the Oracle E-Business Suite including modules such as Oracle CRM, Oracle Financials, and Oracle Manufacturing. Oracle Data Guard is used for comprehensive data availability, data protection, and disaster recovery.
Metcash is an Australian food and fast moving consumer goods marketing and distribution company. Metcash's employees and senior executives use in-house developed reporting applications that run on Oracle Database 11g for strategic purposes. The company's upgrade to Oracle Database 11g has enabled it to better manage growing volumes of records, more rapidly refresh data and reports, and reduced the amount of time dedicated to administering its database.
Where 2 Get It, Inc., founded in 1997 and based in Anaheim, Calif., provides location-based services to help consumers find products and services online and locally. The company has integrated all of its geospatial services onto Oracle Database 11g with Oracle Spatial to help it lower its total cost of ownership, enabling it to maintain competitive pricing for its customers.
Belgium-based Yuntaa offers a range of online services including backup, synchronization, and storage to help consumers and businesses better collaborate and share content. Oracle Database 11g, in conjunction with Oracle Partitioning and Oracle Advanced Security, serves as the central repository for maintaining, backing up and securing customer metadata and content. Oracle Advanced Compression was also implemented to improve application performance and reduce disk space requirements resulting in lower overall storage costs.
