Oracle Buys Taleo

Oracle today (9 February 2012) announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Taleo Corporation (NASDAQ:TLEO), a leading provider of cloud-based talent management for $46.00 per share or approximately $1.9 billion, net of Taleo’s cash and debt. Taleo’s Talent Management Cloud helps organizations attract, develop, motivate and retain human capital to improve performance and drive growth.

Oracle Misses Wall Street Forecasts

The news that Oracle missed Wall Street forecasts sent its shares tumbling 9% and raised demand fears.  It is the first time since 2008 that Oracle had reported a decline in its revenues from maintenance on its software.  Second quarter revenue rose 2% from last year to $8.8 billion while profits rose to $2.19 billion from $1.87 billion last year, reports ‘The Times’.

Oracle’s $1.3 Billion U.S. Verdict Against SAP Thrown Out

Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Oracle Corp.'s $1.3 billion copyright-infringement verdict against SAP AG, the largest maker of business-management software, was overturned by a federal judge who called the award "grossly excessive.".

U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton in Oakland, California, yesterday granted SAP's motion to throw out the verdict. She ruled that SAP should get a new trial for damages if Oracle rejects her decision to reduce the amount to $272 million, which she said should be the maximum in damages based on the evidence at trial.

Oracle Accuses HP of Fraud, Libel in Cross-Complaint Suit

Aug. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Oracle Corp. accused Hewlett-Packard Co. of fraud and libel, saying a settlement agreement between the two companies over Oracle’s hiring of former HP chief Mark Hurd was unfair and that HP defamed Oracle with allegations that the company bullies its customers.
